Bhotekoshi River Rafting Trip

The Bhote Kosi river is a very steep and very continuous mountain stream; a unique combination of exceptionally fun and challenging rapids without it ever getting past the point of recreation. The thundering of the next rapid is never far downstream and only occasional pools of calm give a chance to reflect on the awesome beauty surrounding the river. Emerald green fields are terraced high above the river on precipitous slopes, curious villagers lining suspension bridges are amazed as we plunge through cascading waves and chutes of foam.

Rafting on the Bhote Kosi is a full body experience, with much more involved than simply paddling forward and backward. One of the most common paddle commands on the Bhote Kosi is “hold on!” During low flows the Bhote Kosi is a classic run on a steep mountain river. When the water starts coming up the Bhote Kosi becomes a solid class 4+ river, requiring a serious commitment from all team members. Family raft trips and regular kayak clinics are available on the lower river sections and there is no better place to experience the thrill and gratification of learning to kayak in the Himalayas.

Tumbling from the snow-capped peaks of Tibet, the Bhote Kosi river provides some of the most exciting rafting and kayaking in Nepal, and is quite possibly one of the best short river trips offered anywhere in the world.

  • REVIEWS FOR BHOTEKOSHI RAFTING TRIP:
  • Lonely Planet review for Bhotekoshi Rafting Trip:
A popular activity from Kathmandu is to take an early morning scenic mountain flight along the spine of the Himalaya for close-up views of Mt Everest and other peaks from a distance of just 5 nautical miles. All major airlines offer the hour-long flights and each passenger on the six- to 30-seat turbo props is guaranteed a window seat. The quality of the views depends on weather conditions. If the flight is cancelled due to bad weather, airlines offer a full refund or a seat on a later flight.
